Nissan says hybrids too expensive
Carlos Ghosn, head of Nissan Motors, breaking ranks with some of his rivals, said building fuel-sipping hybrid vehicles makes little sense in today's world because of their high costs. Separately, GM said they have no plans for a diesel-electric Astra for the European market due to high costs, and intend to focus on high-tech diesels instead. Hybrids add about $3500 in costs.
