Don't forget Halliburton...

So in case we've all forgotten, I thought I'd post a reminder.

Back at the beginning of the Iraq 'war', no-bid contracts were improperly given out to companies friendly to the administration. Halliburton was one of the companies particularly favored by the administration. Against policy, members of the administration recommended Halliburton for the contract, the Pentagon admitted.

Now, despite warnings against using Halliburton (KBR) for the contract because of "significant potential for abuse and over-billing" the contract was awarded.

Apologists for the administration and Halliburton have said that Halliburton was the best choice for the job anyway.

Well let's look at that. What did the government, and therefore the taxpayers, got for their money.

- Dirty kitchens and food for the troops. A problem that it ignored and failed to fix even after repeated requests from the government.

"Halliburton serves dirty food to the troops
Dec. 13, 2003

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 2003 (Summary of Agence France Press Article) - The Department of Defense repeatedly warned Halliburton's subsidiary, KBR, that its food and the kitchens where it is prepared are "dirty," NBC News reported. A Pentagon report found that KBR's promises to clean up its food and kitchens "have not been followed through." The report found that KBR kitchens contain "blood all over the floor," "dirty pans," "dirty grills," "dirty salad bars" and "rotting meats ... and vegetables" in four of the military cafeterias the company operates in Iraq, reported NBC, citing Pentagon documents."

- Loss and misuse or outright theft of billions (that's right, billions with a 'B') of dollars.

"Pentagon auditors have concluded that Halliburton Co. failed to adequately account for more than $1.8 billion of work in Iraq and Kuwait, said a newspaper citing a Pentagon report. The amount represents 43 percent of the $4.18 billion that Houston-based Halliburton's Kellogg Brown & Root unit* has billed the Pentagon to feed and house troops in the region, the Wall Street Journal reported."

- Overcharged and overspent.

Investigation of Iraq's Coalition Provisional Authority finds unwarranted overcharges of U.S. taxpayers
30 June 2004

WASHINGTON, June 30 (HalliburtonWatch.org) - An investigation into the U.S.-controlled Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) of Iraq found that it failed to adequately control over $9 billion in international aid, including Halliburton's hotel costs in Kuwait. The CPA controlled the governing processes of Iraq from May 2003 to June 29, 2004. Stuart Bowen, the CPA's inspector general, released the report one day after the CPA was disbanded and authority for the Iraqi government was handed over to Iraqi citizens. Bowen's report said the CPA participated in Halliburton's overcharges by failing to stop unauthorized personnel from staying at a Hilton in Kuwait City that was supposed to be used only by senior government officials. Halliburton charged the government $2.85 million for hotel costs, even though cheaper housing arrangements were available. For example, one CPA official lived at the Kuwaiti Hilton for almost $700 a night. The company also charged $191,000 a year for laundry services.

The dirty kitchens story is just one of dozens that show Haliburton and it's subsidiaries did substandard work at the expense of our soldiers.
Haliburton also lost, wasted or skimmed a whopping 43% of the money it billed the government!
And the Republicans have protected the company from regulation and policing.

On another note, the administration and it's puppets (like FOX News) like to rattle on about how Cheney no longer works for Halliburton and has no more connection or stocks in the company.
While technically true, this is not the whole story. Cheney holds 433,333 Halliburton stock options. Those stock options have gained in value, earning Cheney around $7.5 million! As well, he continues to earn a deferred salary from the company.

*Now, in case you didn't catch it, I'll explain the reason I posted earlier about the Bush family's collaboration with the Nazi's. Here's a quote from the article linked in that post.

"Bush's partners in the secret web of Thyssen-controlled ventures included former New York Governor W. Averell Harriman and his younger brother, E. Roland Harriman. Their quarter-century of Nazi financial transactions, from 1924-1951, were conducted by the New York private banking firm, Brown Brothers Harriman."

These are the same firms, though the partners Kellog and Root have been added and aquired by Haliburton.
Interesting connection don't you think?
The Bush family's partners in war profiteering and Nazi collaboration are the same company formerly headed by VP Cheney, and now war profiteering in the middle east and worldwide.

Prescott Bush, W's grandfather, collaborated with the Nazi's and profiteered from the war (hmmm that sounds familiar). Guess this puts him in good company like Henry Ford. Not to mention Prescott was one of the founders of the US branch of the Skull & Bones cult.
And his father collaborates with the current enemy through conduits like the Carlyle group and the Bin Laden family.

What a great, proud family history.

Bush the Fratboy sex offender?

I wonder how many people across the country have been fired from their jobs or even sued or charged with a crime for doing exactly what the Fratboy-in-chief did to the German Chancellor the other day. This is worse than when he posed with the Japanese Prime Minister with his fly open.

BTW, this site is in German, but you can click on the video or the story and see stills. In this case, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Note the Chancellor's appalled reaction to this groping.

Judge refuses to dismiss NSA lawsuit

Thank God someone is standing up to this administration and it's ongoing attack on the Constitution.
As much as I may disagree with them, the ACLU is an important counterbalance to administration abuses. Not to say the ACLU doesn't frequently have it's collective heads up it's left-wing butts. However, like mosquitoes, they serve their purpose in the 'circle of life'.
Enough of that analogy, the point is that in this case, the ACLU is right. So is the EFF, but unlike the ACLU, the EFF is right most of the time anyway.

This administration has proceeded with the most voracious attack on the Constitution that the country has ever seen. It's push toward removing the Constitutionally designed balance of the three branches of government in it's favor has been ongoing since the day they used the Supreme Court to steal the election.

I think the reason that they have launched such a blatant, and unashamed grab for fascist power is that the ignorant sheep of a public have let them. People have bought into the specious argument of security over liberty. The founding fathers knew this attack would be used against the citizens and the Constitution and tried to design the Constitution to prevent it. However, "We the people" have stupidly allowed these protections to be carved from that sacred document.

Hopefully these lawsuits and the judges in charge will save the few protections left.

The people need to get off their complacent butts and demand the overturning and removal of all un-Constitutional legislation that has been passed during this administration, beginning with the majority of the PATRIOT Act.

Bush Unplugged at the G8 over Middle East Conflict

So does Bush make a point of saying something stupid on camera every time he goes to a G8 summit?
I suppose no one remembers back when it was the G7 and Bush got caught 'secretly' saying that Israel needed to be forced to suck it up and get out of Gaza.
If you are paying attention, this was the seed for the current situation in Israel/Lebanon which may lead us into WW-III.
Thanks Mr. Bush.

The real war, the war on the Constitution

This is a pretty decent article with lots of references posted on FireDogLake(?) explaining how the administration has created a "war on terror" in order to create a coup, and toss out the Constitution. It's working too.

"Very high" taxes, inflation coming...

More on the previous post. The US is headed for bankruptcy or severe belt-tightening.

From the article:
"There's a very good chance of very high taxes in the future, and good chance of very high inflation," Boston University Professor Laurence Kotlikoff told WorldNetDaily yesterday.

US 'could be going bankrupt' - UPDATED

It looks like the Bush administration's economic plan is going about as well as it's middle east peace plan.

The problem is that the United States already declared bankruptcy in 1933 and went it receivership and reorganization.

The Blog | Alec Baldwin: God Has Truly Blessed America | The Huffington Post

I found this post in Alec Baldwin's blog interesting.
First, considering how often he is painted as a psychotic left wing liberal, he appears quite moderate in his views, even conservative in some ways.
Secondly, I'm surprised at how strong the response was to this post. Actual psychotic Sean Hannity of Fox News calls him unhinged.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Anyway, here it is for your enjoyment.

Alternative fuel studies.

Interesting article about the value of both ethanol and biodiesel. It's hard on both, but still shows more of the advantages of biodiesel.

Excerpt from the article:
"The study, done by researchers at the University of Minnesota and at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., points to the environmental benefits of the biodiesel over ethanol made from corn, stating that ethanol provides 25 percent more energy a gallon than is required for its production, while soybean biodiesel generates 93 percent more energy.
The study's authors also found that ethanol, in its production and consumption, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 12 percent, compared with fossil fuels. Biodiesel, they said, reduces such emissions 41 percent, compared with fossil fuels.
"

What these studies fail to consider are other biodiesel sources. There are other crops that give better, cheaper yields per acre. Also it totally overlooks waste vegetable oil (WVO) which is presently a waste material, but a great biodiesel source.

Symbols of the new GOP

So the other day I was watching some news report that I forget, however, I did notice something that left me stunned. In the background of the story was the Republican party's logo. I noticed it had been changed. The change was scary.

Before I get into that, let me give a little background. These days most people are pretty haphazard and careless about how they do things. However there are many groups and people that are very particular how they do, say, write, and place things. Any Catholics out there know the importance of ritual and symbolism. Certain symbols and rituals have meaning. Heraldry is another thing where symbols and placement are important and change meaning.

Now, we all know what the flag of the United States of America looks like (or at least we think we do, but that's another post). Each symbol, color and placement has meaning. If you look at US symbols the stars have a particular form and orientation.

Finally, another group that places great importance on symbols and numbers and orientation is the occult. EVERY Occult symbol and placement has meaning. What makes a pentagram a pentagram and not a 5 pointed star? Easy, the orientation. By placing two of the symbol's points upward, the symbol appears to have horns. A powerful occult symbol.
Note the devil horns hand signal that so many ignorant fans give at certain concerts.

So here's the deal. The republican logo has been changed. It's patriotic stars have been rotated to point 'horns up' and are now pentagrams.
"Conspiracy nonsense!" you yell
OK, if it's a coincidence, then tell me what possible reason there was to change it?
US symbols have upright stars, not pentagrams. There's no precedent for this orientation.
Also look at the timing. The symbol changed right at the same time as Bush took office, and before two confessed, practicing cult members (Skull & Bones, Bohemian Grove) ran for office (Bush & Kerry).

Here's a graphic for you to compare, Note the stars on the flag for reference:

Enron witness found dead in park

Well well, Imagine that, a disappearing Enron witness.
No doubt one that could prove the link of the money laundering into the Bush campaign.
I'm surprised Abramoff is still alive.

Rosa Brooks: Did Bush commit war crimes?

The logic of this is pretty simple and well explained in this article.
Essentially with the courts taking apart the circular argument it was using to protect it's activities in the "war on terror", the administration is open to charges of war crimes.
It's certainly likely that based on the Hamdan decision, that the administration has committed war crimes. Not that they'll ever face any charges.
It amazes me that they tried to impeach Clinton and yet W. is still in office. Not that I like Clinton, but if he's the standard for impeachment, W is way past the impeachment point.

Big Brother is moving in online.

OK, so the State Department is reporting increased attacks and possible loss of sensitive data.
First off, that's what you get for connecting a Windows box to a network.
However, I'm sure that this will be spun into a "Clear and Present Danger" to US Homeland security.
This will in turn cause the sheep to bleat for laws to protect us. After all, the Constitution is just a "G*d D@mned piece of paper" according to the President anyway(*).
A lot of bad things happen every day, and have since well before 9-11. It's just that we now have them brought to our attention whenever the administration needs to put a little fear into us so that they can do what they want.

Watch yourself.

Interesting idea. Dunno if it's worthwhile, but something has to be done about DRM and 'Trusted' [cough] Computing.
It's a huge affront to the public and yet another example of the corporate takeover of America.
