The treason continues, but the Press wakes up.

Well, at least some of the media has stopped ignoring the facts and lying to the public.

And even better, Keith Olbermann has the guts to really tell it like it is. Real American citizens and patriots need to wake up and stop being party to this administration's treason.

No income tax, just a sales tax - InvestmentNews

Finally a good idea from congress. Though I'm sure this won't be voted through, it's good to see this kind of thinking in Congress.

Basically they propose getting rid of the IRS, removing death tax and replacing both with a national sales tax.

Great idea, and fair to everyone which is why it will never pass.
Oh well, nice to imagine.

Boston joins the competition.

The city of Boston has announced it's intention to compete for Fox's coveted "Paranoid, ignorant, stupid sheep" award. Bill O'Reilley praised Boston for promoting the President's Citizens React Absurdly Paranoid program. "The President needs people to accept his C.R.A.P. in order to effectively lead" said O'Reilley.

America, the new gulag?

America under the Bush regime has descended into an all time low in human rights and abuses of power.

Recently it scored sixth among non European countries in citizen privacy rights and protections and 30th overall!. More disturbing it scored lower than all but one EU nation. The top EU nation was Germany(!) and the top non-EU nation was Canada. Canada scored second overall. Only Canada and Germany scored a 'green' rating overall.
See the list here http://www.privacyinternational.org/survey/phr2005/phr2005spread.jpg
Note that the US only has a half point lead over Russia and a 0.6 point lead on China. Nothing to be proud of.

Maybe after the US descends into it's own fascist nightmare it will learn the same lessons that Germany apparently did after it's fascist experiment.

The video link is a video taken by a student in the UCLA library. A middle eastern student was reading with several other dozen students in the library. He was singled out and demanded to produce ID. The campus police tazered him multiple times for failing to produce ID and not wanting to leave.

The mainstream media refuses to cover the amount, and depth of abuse of the citizenry in the name of "national security" and "anti-terrorism", but even a simple google search will lead you to enough incidents to make you sick. From the dozens of detention camps, inside the US, to the abuse of police powers, to the frivolous overuse of the charge of terrorism (see the lawnmower neighbor in a previous post) and the removal of habaeus corpus, a cornerstone of civilization and justice.

Never mind God Bless America. God Help America!

Dubai's Emirates airline first to allow mobile calls in flight - Engadget

If this is the first, it makes me wonder if the conspiracy theorists have a point. How DID the people on flight 93 supposedly make those cell phone calls? It's already been pointed out (and proven in demonstrations) that a cell phone won't work in a moving airliner without a repeater system like is only now being deployed like this one.

OK America....

Well, here's your test. Let's review. Lying, bribe taking, vote selling, treason. That's just a sampling of the things the Republicans have been caught at. Yet some of you will still vote for them today. You'll vote for stupid, ignorant or treasonous reasons. You'll become the lowest form of anti-democratic traitor, the one issue voter.
You'll vote on issues like abortion that really have nothing to do with these midterm elections. You'll vote for people that claim to support your position on these issues, even though they have blatantly lied about that position just to get your vote. Don't believe me? Let's go back to the abortion issue. Given that most of you have no idea how your own government even works, let's review. At this point, abortion is law. There are only two groups that can do anything about it. Those groups are Congress, and the Supreme Court. Now keep in mind that the Congress has been a Republican majority since the last elections and they've done nothing. Now right now you're thinking something stupid like "But those darn Democrats have/would have stopped them if/when they tried to change the law". Well, they'd have had to actually try to change it to be stopped. Go try and find a Bill proposing such a change. Had they even tried it would have been the biggest news story on the air. They'd have been fighting over it tooth and nail. But there has not been any stand or effort by the Republican party to ban abortion. Yet they all campaign heavily on this issue.
OK, so what about the Supreme Court. Well, quite simply, this President and his father nominated the majority of the current court. Yet none of them have taken any stand on Abortion. In fact BOTH of George W's two nominees clearly stated that they consider Roe V. Wade to be the law of the land and that they have no intention to challenge it.
What you do have is a party, led by a President who stated clearly, and on video, that he would run, and win the Presidency by courting Christian Conservatives. He and Karl Rove discussed this on tape during a documentary about the Senior Bush's last (losing) campaign as they analyzed the election results and were surprised by the voter response to Pat Buchanon. They then, and there, and on tape, formed a plan to court the Conservative Christian vote. Then, suddenly, magically, this fornicating (his admission), cocaine snorting, drunk suddenly became a religious conservative from Texas. Never mind that he and his family are really from the same crowd as the Kennedy's and John Kerry. That's right. They are from that same Massachusetts yacht club crowd. Look it up. They chose to ride the Conservative, anti-Liberal backlash that started in the Reagan years. It's all fake.
More confirmation came of this by Whitehouse insiders like David Kuo who confirmed that to this administration, Christian Conservatives are nothing more than another demographic to be courted.
However this Republican party of liars and hypocrites is constantly getting caught behaving in ways that show their true morals. Vote selling, bribes, money crimes, sex scandals, homosexuality, drugs, even treason (see the Plame story).
Yet despite all this, you'll vote for them. Despite the fact that they have done more to destroy the American way of life than any terrorist. You'll vote for them. I hope you are ashamed of yourself.

*Note: Does this mean I think you should vote Democrat? No, not necessarily. I mean you should vote for individuals, based on their platform and their record of sticking to it. You should vote out incumbents. You should vote for worthy independants. In short, you should vote like an American. Not a Benedict Arnold.

FBI director wants ISPs to track users | CNET News.com

Why is it that this administration can not, will not secure it's own borders.
Where did the 9/11 terrorists come from? Inside the US. All came in through US Customs, all behaved in a suspicious manner, most were in violation of their Immigration Visa's and yet they lived and moved with impunity, some for up to 12 years!
Now, it's just come out that the wide open Mexican border is the first choice of terrorists, yet the administration has not, and will not do a thing to make it more secure. It doesn't want to alienate it's corporate masters who are using these illegals as cheap labor.
Despite all this, the only crackdowns are on monitoring citizens!
Not people in tents in the Khyber pass hiding Osama.
The all out assault on civil rights in this country, by this administration has done more to destroy what makes America America than every act of external terrorism combined.
Acts of terrorism, while terrible, can only destroy our property and kill our people. But it's the Constitution and the freedoms and rights it protects that make America great, and free, and unique. And as long as those things survive, America lives.
Don't take this statement as demeaning the lives lost, or giving less value to the sacrifices. My own family lost life and limb in wars to protect our freedoms. But they knew the potential cost of their and our freedom and were willing to make that sacrifice. Any true patriot is willing to sacrifice their liberty, blood and even life to protect what they believe in. This is why it's so disgusting, so disgraceful to their memory, and so treasonous for this administration to give/take away so easily what so many have bought at such great cost for the rest of us.
It's long been talked about how America refuses to bargain with terrorists. And yet, that's exactly what is being done.
Trading our rights, our freedoms, even the Constitution to (supposedly) stop terrorism is NO different than trading jet fuel and safe passage for hostages. It's hypocritical, and it's treasonous.
I'll say it again, this administration of crooks, perverts, liars, cheats and traitors has done more damage to America than every terrorist in history.

Stop them all. Save America. Don't vote for career politicians. Don't vote for traitors.
Vote real, patriotic, Americans. No matter what party. Even, and especially independent parties.

Big Brother is watching...

Funny how the US Intelligence agencies can't seem to find Osama, or figure out if Iran really has nukes, but they can find 14 year old girls venting and saying stupid things on MySpace.
If the current administration spent as much time and resources looking outward as it does looking inward at it's own citizens, terrorism would be a thing of the past.
The so called "War on Terror" is really an excuse to create a police state. And that police state is in place now. Only publicly declared martial law is missing.
Meanwhile, these phonies would have us believe that they have our best interests in mind, that they represent a Godly moral high ground.
A high ground that they use as an excuse to trick the gullible fools on the Christian right into voting for them and supporting them. And as an excuse to bring their righteous values to the world in the name of democracy as a cover for imperialism. All the while their real, true nature is becoming so overpowering in them that they can no longer control themselves.
This is amplified by the fact that the public refuses to even notice, let-alone hold them accountable.
How many Republican congressmen have to go to jail for selling their votes or molesting boys? How much of the Constitution has to be shredded before the public demands a stop be put to it?
After all, they can come down hard on little girls who vent their frustration in mere words.

No limit to depths Repubs will sink

This is sickening.
Mark Foley gets caught red-handed being the pedophile he is and does he take accountability? Nope, he blames every one/thing but himself. Drinking, childhood, etc. blah blah blah.
Now, the Republicans get caught covering up this pedophilia and what do they do? The same thing. They blame the Democrats, the media, Bill Clinton, George Soros, et al. They don't blame them for making it up, they blame them for exposing it!

Now look, it may come out that dozens of senators have been playing grab-ass with young pages, including some Democrats. This is not the real issue. The Republican response is the issue. They're disgusting.
And this whole incident exposes what everyone needs to open their eyes to about this party. They are disgusting, lying, stealing, scheming, perverts. But they pretend to be pious while they call everyone else evil.
Here's how really evil people work. They pre-emptively attack their enemy and accuse them of everything they themselves are. {This is the modus operandi of Karl Rove BTW.}
Mark Foley went around playing defender of children, persecutor of the pedophilia, while he himself was just such an evil scum pervert.

Don't you dare be a one issue voter this election. Don't you dare vote for Republicans because you want to vote for "Christian values". Don't you dare vote because they claim to be Pro-life. The only reason they would even bother to push a Pro-life bill is to fleece money from lobbyists, and to allow more children to be born for them to molest.

This party needs to be cleaned out from the bottom to the top.

That doesn't mean I want you to vote Democrat either. Especially in the next Presidential election. Hillary is very nearly the devil herself.
What I'm saying is find out what your candidates really stand for and vote for people. Good people. No matter what party they are. Even independent. It is your duty as a citizen to know the issues, know the candidates and vote and participate accordingly.

The New Freedom Initiative [update]

Your children are already being screened, without your knowledge or consent, under the NFI. You will only find out once they are labeled mentally ill, forced into treatment, and prescribed mind altering drugs.

Now, it's coming to everyone. All ages. If you get treatment at a hospital, enter an old age home, get charged with a crime, enter a homeless shelter, or use many other public facilities, you will be mentally screened, and receive drugs and treatment and be subject to further screening periodically thereafter.

Oh, and on a side note, they are funding hundreds of new 'facilities' to house people.

Where are the good guys?

Here's a story of some of the brutal atrocities being committed in Darfur.
Get upset, it's ok, you should.
Here's what I don't understand. There appears to be a war between two factions that are currently represented by supposed radical isalmists, and supposed freedom loving democratic juedeo-Christians.
Presently represented by the US/Britain etc. pseudo-Christian neocons on the one side and the radical Islamic terrorists/Al Queda on the other side.
Both sides are evil, committing heinous atrocities, oppressing their populations, and grabbing for power. There's certainly a war here, but it appears to be between two evil factions.
Where are the good guys? What's the real story?
To quote the good book, "A house divided against itself cannot prosper". So is the war a farce, a hoax, a tool? It's possible, just look what the citizens of the US have allowed to happen to their country, their Constitution, their freedom in the name of the so called "war on terror". After all, the Republicans finally threw Mark Foley to the dogs, after covering up for him for 3 years or more, to distract the media and the public from the bigger crime. The detainee and wiretapping Bills.

Who are the good guys? Where are they? When will they get in this fight?

Are you a patriot or a collaborator?

Every Citizen has the solemn duty to hold his government to account.

At the very least, you should be reading the summaries of all proposed legislation. This can be found easily at
the Library of Congress' Thomas website.
There is no excuse for not doing so. To say you are 'too busy' to participate in your own government is treasonous. Make the time. Spend one hour less wasting your time on MySpace, or watching drivvel on TV, or whatever you do.

Want to see some of what can be found there, some of the things your government has been up to?

H. J. RES. 41

Final Prediction

The final stages of the takeover of America are occurring in rapid succession. However there is one remaining step the members of the coup haven't taken.
IF, the Bush administration is alone in this plot, then they must eliminate term limitations (Article XXII of the Constitution). They've already tried in fact. See House Joint Resolution V - January 4, 2005. More than once. House Joint Resolution 24 - February 17, 2005
If they intend to keep control, then they will have to get around this law. Given the more important articles of the Constitution they've swept aside without resistance, I see this as no real stopping block. However, just because the American public have chosen to be lambs, led to the slaughter, the rest of the world has not (yet). Because this play is happening on a world stage they will try and maintain the pretense of law and propriety.
If the conspiracy is greater than the current administration, then they won't care and will put the next puppet in place now that the election process has been taken under control.
But, if the plot is to keep Bush in office, this is what I predict will happen.
Another major attack, larger than 9/11, possibly biological, will hit the US. The government will then declare federal martial law, eliminate posse comitatus, and postpone elections indefinitely, or eliminate term limitations. And that will be it. The end of the great experiment in Freedom that was America. The greatest country on earth, with unlimited potential for humanity, and the great dreams of it's founding fathers will be gone, forever.

|

Habeas Corpus, R.I.P. (1215 - 2006)

More on the end of the rule of law in America and it's replacement by a Presidential dictatorship.

Bush swore an oath which he has regularly and flagrantly violated. An oath to defend and protect The Constitution from all enemies. Note that the oath is to protect The Constitution, not the Homeland, or National Security or anything else. The Founding fathers knew what the proper priority was. Without The Constitution, there is no America to protect.
Failure to uphold that oath has a name. It is called treason.

Here's the conclusion of the article linked below, I hope you'll do your duty as a citizen and read the whole thing. And participate in what little is left of the Democratic process.

"The version of the detainee bill now in the Senate not only undoes much of the McCain-Warner-Graham work, but it is actually much worse than the administration’s first proposal. In one change, the original compromise language said a suspect had the right to “examine and respond to” all evidence used against him. The three senators said the clause was necessary to avoid secret trials. The bill has now dropped the word “examine” and left only “respond to.”
In another change, a clause said that evidence obtained outside the United States could be admitted in court even if it had been gathered without a search warrant. But the bill now drops the words “outside the United States,” which means prosecutors can ignore American legal standards on warrants.
The bill also expands the definition of an unlawful enemy combatant to cover anyone who has “has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States.” Quick, define “purposefully and materially.” One person has already been charged with aiding terrorists because he sold a satellite TV package that includes the Hezbollah network.
The bill simply removes a suspect’s right to challenge his detention in court. This is a rule of law that goes back to the Magna Carta in 1215. That pretty much leaves the barn door open.
As Vladimir Bukovsky, the Soviet dissident, wrote, an intelligence service free to torture soon “degenerates into a playground for sadists.” But not unbridled sadism—you will be relieved that the compromise took out the words permitting interrogation involving “severe pain” and substituted “serious pain,” which is defined as “bodily injury that involves extreme physical pain.”
In July 2003, George Bush said in a speech: “The United States is committed to worldwide elimination of torture, and we are leading this fight by example. Freedom from torture is an inalienable human right. Yet torture continues to be practiced around the world by rogue regimes, whose cruel methods match their determination to crush the human spirit.”
Fellow citizens, this bill throws out legal and moral restraints as the president deems it necessary—these are fundamental principles of basic decency, as well as law.
I’d like those supporting this evil bill to spare me one affliction: Do not, please, pretend to be shocked by the consequences of this legislation. And do not pretend to be shocked when the world begins comparing us to the Nazis." - Molly Ivins

Habeas Corpus, R.I.P. (1215 - 2006)

|

What DOES it take to wake you up?!

I'll open with a quote from the opening paragraph of the article linked here.

"...I really need to ask a question here: what the hell is the matter with you people? And by “you people,” I don’t mean specifically the regular readers of these newsletters, but rather the American people in general. So to all you John and Jane Q. Publics out there, let me rephrase the question: what the hell does it take to get a reaction out of you?"

As you read this article, and I urge you to do so, keep in mind that it was written before the recent events of the Republicans and Congress to remove the core tenet of the American justice system, habeas corpus as well as gutting the Bill of Rights by giving the President the power to pretty much spy on anyone, anywhere, without cause, notification and most importantly, without oversight.

The fact that no one is screaming about these things sickens me. But then, like the author, I've nearly given up on waiting for the American public to take a stand on anything worthwhile.

The summary of the article is that Haliburton (surprise surprise) proudly announced on it's website that it secured a huge contract with the government to build an indefinite quantity of facilities (prison camps) inside the United States to be used for emergency immigrant detention or to support the rapid development of new programs.

Care to guess what those new programs might be? Want a hint, go read this from the U.S. Army's website.
Army Regulations for the Civilian Inmate Labor Program.
Who do you think those camps are for now?

The situation as it exists, right now, in America is that the Constitution is gone. Anyone can be grabbed off the street, or from their home, taken to secret camps, tortured, put to hard labor, and never be seen again. They will have no right to an attorney, no right to hear the charges against them, no right to a trial. Nothing. You disappear, and no one can find you. You have no legal recourse. You can be tortured and held indefinitely without charge or trial.
Welcome to the new Amerika. You are nothing. You have no rights. Get used to it, you did it to yourself by allowing it to happen.

They Passed the Torture Bill, Gave Bush Wiretapping, and America is Dead | TPMCafe

I am probably on the opposite side of most issues from the author of the blog article linked below, but on this one I agree with him.
This administration is actively executing a coup. They are tearing up the Constitution, removing the rule of law, and setting up a fascist state.
America is nearly dead. Amerika is replacing it.

If you haven't seen the movie "V for Vendetta" then I think you should.
It presents very well the world being created here in America.
There are plenty of other analogies. Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, etc. As well as more movie examples like "1984" and "Fahrenheit 451", "Equilibrium" and others.

This is a fact, a simple, obvious, verifiable, fact. Read the bills, read the former constitution, do the research. There is no conspiracy theory here. There is a factual, immoral, illegal, attack on the United States of America and it's headquartes is the Whitehouse.

Tell your Senators...Vote no

Like many bills, the proposed "National Uniformity for Food Act" sounds like a good thing, but it is also flawed. It will remove the ability of local and state legislators to require other labelling. For example California and Minnesota use them to warn consumers of additional risks or studies associated with products. I don't know about you, but I'd like labels like "contains substances believed to cause Cancer" left on products I might buy.

Bush refuses to support Pro-Life legislation.

There are a lot of people out there who are one of the greatest threats to democracy and the democratic process. These people are what are called "one issue voters". These are the same un-American anti-patriots who elected Bush in 2000 purely because of their belief that he was Pro-Life.
One issue voting is treasonous, ignorant, and just plain stupid, but it happens all the time. It's one step below voting by party.
Anyway, that all said, the problem is this. By doing even a small amount of research in 2000, these Pro-Life voters could have easily determined that Bush's Pro-Life rhetoric was nothing but lies. He's proven that again and again, and now, finally since he doesn't have to face another election, he's dropped the pretense and come right out against Pro-Life initiatives like this one.
The same thing happened in 2004. Many of the public stupidly bought into Bush's sales pitch as the Homeland Security President. Believing like sheep that any other choice would lead to chaos and the country being overrun by external enemies. Yet after billions squandered on "Homeland Security" and the Constitution and Bill of Rights shredded in the name of Security, the DHS and FEMA did nothing when Katrina hit. They were no more prepared than before. They only accomplished fleecing the public of billions for illegal, no-bid contracts for republican run companies like Haliburton. Yet amazingly, there are people out there who still support him, even defend him like he is the second coming. Unbelievable.

The only real remaining 'free press' is the independent media. I'm sure that's just one reason the government is trying so hard to control and censor the Internet.

Prison camp pictures spark protests

Not all torture is physical. The sensory deprivation that the US is using against prisoners is considered one of the most insidious forms of torture available today.

The US claims the moral high ground to the world. The excuse for all of the imperialism and abuses is "To bring the American way of life" to those oppressed. Well, it's no wonder people don't want "the gift" of the American way.
America has lost it's way and no longer has the moral high ground and no moral guidance to give.

Cheney's Halliburton Paradigm for Fraud

This shouldn't really surprise anyone, but at least now evidence and proof is coming out. Cheney is a crook without a shred of morality. A vampire sucking the life out of this country.

Annals of Outrage

Top ten government scandals (so far) according to the GAO and Inspector Generals office.

Here are the headings.

1. Halliburton's Corruption.
2. Iraq's Decline.
3. Abu Ghraib Prison Torture.
4. The CIA's Pre-9/11 Intelligence Failures.
5. HHS's Deceptive Ad Campaign.
6. HHS's Scully Scandal.
7. Government-wide Accounting Problems.
8. Sex Education Misinformation.
9. CAPPS II's Failures.
10. The Real Costs of War.

Now there's certainly a media slant to this list, and I don't agree with the interpretation of all the facts, but I agree with the jist of the facts.
For example number 4 in my opinion was due to intimidation by the administration and supression of the facts.

Then little W said....

"Gosh darn it dad, I can't find those WMD's you gave Saddam anywhere!"
And he stomped his feet and stuck out his lip, making a pouting face.
Finally poor little George had to satisfy himself with his favorite pass time, taking replica Constitutions out of a large pile in the corner, and cutting paper dolls out of them. Then taking them out in the garden and lighting them on fire and yelling "talk terrorist scum, or I'll torture you more! Muahahaha!"

The best business ideas: Soybeans that give you gas - Aug. 1, 2006

A better use of crop land than Ethanol corn.
Instead of feeding us all this unhealthy soy* and stuffing it into nearly every food we buy, lets plant it instead of Ethanol corn and make it into biodiesel.

The best business ideas: Soybeans that give you gas - Aug. 1, 2006

*yes yes, I know you all think soy is healthy and great. It's not. No, don't argue, it's crap. It's proteins are formed into too tightly wound molecules for our body to break down and digest so it's not very bio-available at all. Plus it absorbs every kind of pollutant and heavy metal in the soil.

Appetite for destruction - August 21, 2006

The problem with Ethanol.
Ethanol is a terrible use of our crops, and a poor fuel.
We could use those same harvests for biodiesel with a much larger, cleaner return.

Wrapping my mind around the (seemingly) impossible

So the other day, I saw a guy on CNN who was talking about a website for a group that believes that 9-11 was some kind of vast conspiracy, CNN was pretty tough on him. Now I certainly believe that this administration is in cahoots with anyone willing to participate, in order to further it's interests. I also believe that they will sell out you, me and their own mother to any other group to get something they want in return. However, the most I was willing to let my mind accept regarding 9-11 was that they had turned a blind eye and stood down everyone who could stop it. This would allow them to use the anger instilled in the public, and the world, to impliment and further their policies and plans in the US and worldwide. In my mind, that's already a pretty big stretch.
However, I will listen to anyone's point of view and weight their arguments accordingly. So I checked this group's website out. The group is called "Scholars for 9/11 truth" and they're quite compelling.
However, compelling isn't enough to make my mind jump the tracks to the idea that 9/11 was an inside job and a hoax. I want hard facts and logic. Well, I finally came to this article link on their site:
"Free-Falling Bodies:
Simple Physics Reveals The Big Lie
"
The basic idea of the article is that using simple physics, and Newtonian Physics, you can calculate that the towers fell too fast. It's like this, gravity causes a free-falling object to accelerate at a constant rate, barring external influence. For example, skydivers won't accelerate to 1000 MPH if the fall far enough, even though this is what they would do in a vacuum. Earth's atmosphere slows them down until they fall at a constant rate. The towers, according to the official story, fell in a series of collapses. Each floor failing in turn as the building above fell on it. This should cause quite a bit of resistance no? Even more than mere air. And yet, the towers fell at a speed that indicates there was nearly zero resistance. And you don't need to take my word for it. Go watch a realtime (not slow-motion) video and time it yourself. Then do the simple math yourself. It's not possible that the towers fell in the way stated by the official story.
So what did really happen?
You got me, but it blows my mind to realize the consequences of the fact that the towers fell with no resistance. The facts then demand that there was artificial assistance, even possibly the demolition charges claimed by conspiracy theorists.
I don't know what to think. It leads to such an insidious, and complete conspiracy against the public and the world that even I can't accept it yet.
So then I came across the video this blog entry is linked to. It presents a very complete bit of research and some alternative theories on the whole thing.
Did you know, during the early Cuba crisis years, the CIA came up with a plan to get the world and the citizenry to not only allow, but demand an invasion of Cuba?
The plan included staging attacks on the US Guantanimo Bay Military base. It included protests, bombings, rocket attacks, etc. on the base, by people pretending to be Communist Cuban Military and supporters.
The plan even included, and get this, staged attacks with cargo planes, disguised as airliners, and remote controlled. In fact this was even practiced!
This plan would have gone forward except for one man. John F. Kennedy. He not only stopped it, but he fired the man in charge of the plan.

20 Amazing Facts about Voting in the USA

Lucky for Bush the popular vote means nothing and is completely irrelevant. Lucky for him the Electoral college, or when that fails, the Supreme Court, elect presidents in the US, and not the citizens.
Otherwise the demonstrable fixing of the last two elections might be (yet another) crime in his resume if it was ever actually investigated.

Bush whines about being a criminal (again).

Of course Bush is blasting the federal court ruling that his wiretap program is illegal. Thank God there are still some judges out there that understand, hold to, and defend the Constitution.
I really love this section of Judge Diggs 43-page opinion from her ruling.

"The judge said the government, in defending the program, appeared to be saying the president had the "inherent power" to violate laws of Congress. "It was never the intent of the framers to give the president such unfettered control," Taylor wrote in a 43-page opinion. "... There are no hereditary Kings in America and no powers not created by the Constitution. So all 'inherent powers' must derive from that Constitution."
This is as you recall, the same Constitution that Bush swore an oath to defend and uphold.

Diesel: Using oil to cut oil use

"The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that if one-third of cars and light trucks, such as SUVs and minivans, had diesel engines, it would save the equivalent of U.S. oil imports from Saudi Arabia."

Want to bring our soldiers home?
Want to stop terrorism and hold ALL* parties accountable for supporting and harboring it?
Want to reduce emissions and save money?

Diesel is the answer.
Once again, I challenge everyone to go to a Mercedes dealer and test drive an E320-CDI. If you don't, you have no business or right to have an opinion on diesel technology. This is what we could all be driving if we demanded it.
Power, speed, room for 6, luxury, and 37+ MPG on the highway and 27+ in the city.
Mercedes will be bringing this amazing diesel engine to the US in an SUV and crossover next year. (the ML and the R classes).
And before the Prius and Honda idiots start blathering about 50mpg claims, first off, those are much smaller, nearly useless vehicles for familes, and the Prius doesn't actually get 50+ MPG. Or haven't you noticed them littering the used car lots, and the steady decline in Prius sales?

Nissan says hybrids too expensive
Carlos Ghosn, head of Nissan Motors, breaking ranks with some of his rivals, said building fuel-sipping hybrid vehicles makes little sense in today's world because of their high costs. Separately, GM said they have no plans for a diesel-electric Astra for the European market due to high costs, and intend to focus on high-tech diesels instead. Hybrids add about $3500 in costs.

It seems that Bush's little lap dog in Canada is starting to show his true colors.
While I think Harper made a good opposition leader, bringing balance and keeping the liberals from turning Canada into a paradise for homosexual, nihilistic, communist, vegans, he certainly isn't turning out to be much of a leader. He'll probably privatize everything and sell out the rest of Canada to the same corporate bastards running/ruining the US.

Test your congressman

Here's a great, simple test you can apply to your elected representatives.
If they truly represent the people, and their best interests, then they are for net neutrality.
Any representative who is against net neutrality must be a sellout to big business.
There is no benefit to the public by not passing net neutrality laws. The only benefit is to corrupt and greedy corporate interests. Period.
There is no in between, no argument otherwise. You are either for the people, and net neutrality, or you are a corrupt servant of big business.

Check which side your officials are on at Save the Internet, and if they are planning to sell you out to big business, let them know you won't tolerate it.

Support net neutrality.

Here's another article on net neutrality and the various players that are trying to screw the public to line their pockets and create an Internet class system and relegate some of us to virtual beggars.

So much for the Republican moral high ground

Rick Santorum probably isn't someone I'd much agree with. And I don't like the attitude of his site, but this is typical of most sources of information. You just need to ignore the noise and pick out the useful information. There are links to a LOT of examples of the depravity that's infiltrated the Republican party. It's sickening. Not to say Democrats are pure. But the Republican party sells itself as a Godly party, representing the moral high ground. This couldn't be further from the truth. They are as corrupt and depraved as the rest.

More on war crimes....

As mentioned before on this blog, the administration is running scared now that it faces the possibility of war crimes charges.
This is evidenced by their current effort to pass law that provides them with retroactive immunity from prosecution. Why would they need this if no violations were committed?
The fact is that this administration purposely and intentionally decided to make ignoring the Geneva conventions and the use of torture a matter of policy. It must be pointed out here that the U.S. signed this treaty (the Geneva Conventions) which makes it a matter of U.S. Law. The Supreme court has, in Hamdan, re-enforced this fact. This makes the Bush/Rumsfeld policy illegal. Any violations of the Geneva conventions, or hague are therefore violations of U.S. Law. The administration's push for immunity law now makes more sense, especially if they already know war crimes were committed. And we already know that they were committed. Here is just one example. A transcription of some testimony in the Abu Garab investigations. Warning, this testimony is graphic and disturbing. Even more disturbing is that there is lots more of it out there.

Pupils will no longer have to be taught the difference between "right and wrong"

They've already done this in the U.S. using the blanket excuse of "Separation of church and state" which is the catch all excuse for removing all morality from society to replacing it with moral relativism.
So we stopped teaching right and wrong in school, and we wonder why this generation has absolutely no concept of honor, respect, and right and wrong. We wonder why there are school shootings, and 10 year olds committing rapes.
Moral relativism is one of the great scourges of our society.

US CODE: Title 18,2441. War crimes

Here's a section of the US Criminal code (US Criminal Code is what is commonly referred to as 'federal law') that talks about war crimes. This is the law of the land, and applies to every person in the country, even the President.
Note this section of the statute:
(c) Definition.— As used in this section the term "war crime" means any conduct-
(1) defined as a grave breach in any of the international conventions signed at Geneva 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party;
(2) prohibited by Article 23, 25, 27, or 28 of the Annex to the Hague Convention IV, Respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land, signed 18 October 1907;
(3) which constitutes a violation of common Article 3 of the international conventions signed at Geneva, 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party and which deals with non-international armed conflict...

Now you'll recall that all along the administration, in particular, the President, VP, and Sec-Def Rumsfeld have tried various excuses as to why the Geneva convention shouldn't apply to the 'war on terror'. However, the Hamdan decision specifically states it does apply and that the administration cannot claim otherwise.
This was already obvious to everyone but the administration, but even they know it now.
They know it now, and they are running scared. As posted here before, they are now open to war crimes charges.
Those involved must believe they may have committed war crimes as they are now trying to pass a law to specifically exempt themselves from prosecution.

Oh, BTW, under this statute, the penalty for causing the death of a detainee is execution.

US CODE: Title 18,2441. War crimes

If you are wondering if war crimes were committed, you've had your head in the sand. This is just one source* of evidence at one location, Abu Garab. The US has (not so) secret detainee prisons around the world.

Bush submits new terror detainee bill - Yahoo! News

Completing the conversion to fascism.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."
- George W. Bush

I'm going to connect the dots for you. I know most people want to deny even the idea that the United States is being taken over, the Constitution shredded, and converted to fascism. But the facts are inescapable.

First, the Constitution and Bill of Rights are being removed in pieces. Read through this blog for more on that.
The main methods of attack on the Constitution so far have been the so called PATRIOT act and PATRIOT act II. But there are many other attacks on as well. Now the Bush administration proposes this Constitution gutting piece of legislation.
The key concept is quoted here:
"U.S. citizens suspected of terror ties might be detained indefinitely and barred from access to civilian courts under legislation proposed by the Bush administration..." and "The administration's proposal, as considered at one point during discussions, would toss out several legal rights common in civilian and military courts, including barring hearsay evidence, guaranteeing "speedy trials" and granting a defendant access to evidence. The proposal also would allow defendants to be barred from their own trial and likely allow the submission of coerced testimony."

So now we know what they'll do. But you say, "hey, that's ok, we need to catch these people, after all, the 9/11 terrorists were in this country for years" and "I don't worry because this won't apply to me, only to terrorists". The problem is, the administration has never defined what a terrorist is. They've left it open to interpretation so they can apply it to anyone they wish.
This has already caused horrible consequences and the label terrorist has been haphazardly applied to many citizens.
Examples:

- On June 3 Brandon Turner Deaton, 21, Bishop, was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts after he allegedly rode a lawnmower past another man's house and shot at the man's dog with a bb gun.

- ...Also charged were a 16-year-old Hatfield boy and a 17-year-old Perkasie boy with receiving stolen property, underage drinking, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal mischief, said police. The Perkasie boy was also charged with terroristic threats.

- Vicki Sims, 67, of North 4th Street, was charged with terroristic threats and harassment on July 26.
Police allege Sims threatened to kill an E Street woman with a hammer during a verbal altercation.

There are many many more examples of this abuse of the term terrorist every day. These people will be on government watch lists forever. No-fly lists, etc.

Now, suppose that someone affiliated with a group you belong to commits a crime and is categorized as a "terrorist" like the people above. For example, some nut claiming to be a Christian bombs an abortion clinic. Or an employee of your company shoots his wife. Next thing you know, your phones, and e-mail etc. are being tapped by the NSA's illegal surveillance programs.

Daily KOS coverage on this fascist Bill.

A hero scorned

I think the editor missed the point here.
From day one, soldiers are broken down, taken apart, and rebuilt into what the military wants them to be. They make them into followers. Trained to follow orders without question and without over analyzing them. They are taught to trust that their superiors are privy to a bigger picture and plan.
These incidents are almost always a failure of leadership, not of individual soldiers.
Many times these days we allow individual citizens to use all manner of excuses for their behavior. Anything but accountability for their own actions. Yet on the contrary, soldiers who are less accountable are held to a higher standard. Either the method of training and indoctrinating military personnel should be changed to allow individuality (probably a bad idea for a fighting man) or leadership needs to be held to a higher standard.
When leadership, from officers up through pentagon officials and ultimately the Commander in Chief fail behave in an honorable way, and hold themselves to a higher standard, then they fail to become a moral compass for their troops. A compass which they have removed through training and indoctrination. They are then responsible for being that compass.
Abu Garab, My Lai, etc. are all examples of this.

Moral relativism will be, and is already becoming, the downfall of our society.

Don't forget Halliburton...

So in case we've all forgotten, I thought I'd post a reminder.

Back at the beginning of the Iraq 'war', no-bid contracts were improperly given out to companies friendly to the administration. Halliburton was one of the companies particularly favored by the administration. Against policy, members of the administration recommended Halliburton for the contract, the Pentagon admitted.

Now, despite warnings against using Halliburton (KBR) for the contract because of "significant potential for abuse and over-billing" the contract was awarded.

Apologists for the administration and Halliburton have said that Halliburton was the best choice for the job anyway.

Well let's look at that. What did the government, and therefore the taxpayers, got for their money.

- Dirty kitchens and food for the troops. A problem that it ignored and failed to fix even after repeated requests from the government.

"Halliburton serves dirty food to the troops
Dec. 13, 2003

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 2003 (Summary of Agence France Press Article) - The Department of Defense repeatedly warned Halliburton's subsidiary, KBR, that its food and the kitchens where it is prepared are "dirty," NBC News reported. A Pentagon report found that KBR's promises to clean up its food and kitchens "have not been followed through." The report found that KBR kitchens contain "blood all over the floor," "dirty pans," "dirty grills," "dirty salad bars" and "rotting meats ... and vegetables" in four of the military cafeterias the company operates in Iraq, reported NBC, citing Pentagon documents."

- Loss and misuse or outright theft of billions (that's right, billions with a 'B') of dollars.

"Pentagon auditors have concluded that Halliburton Co. failed to adequately account for more than $1.8 billion of work in Iraq and Kuwait, said a newspaper citing a Pentagon report. The amount represents 43 percent of the $4.18 billion that Houston-based Halliburton's Kellogg Brown & Root unit* has billed the Pentagon to feed and house troops in the region, the Wall Street Journal reported."

- Overcharged and overspent.

Investigation of Iraq's Coalition Provisional Authority finds unwarranted overcharges of U.S. taxpayers
30 June 2004

WASHINGTON, June 30 (HalliburtonWatch.org) - An investigation into the U.S.-controlled Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) of Iraq found that it failed to adequately control over $9 billion in international aid, including Halliburton's hotel costs in Kuwait. The CPA controlled the governing processes of Iraq from May 2003 to June 29, 2004. Stuart Bowen, the CPA's inspector general, released the report one day after the CPA was disbanded and authority for the Iraqi government was handed over to Iraqi citizens. Bowen's report said the CPA participated in Halliburton's overcharges by failing to stop unauthorized personnel from staying at a Hilton in Kuwait City that was supposed to be used only by senior government officials. Halliburton charged the government $2.85 million for hotel costs, even though cheaper housing arrangements were available. For example, one CPA official lived at the Kuwaiti Hilton for almost $700 a night. The company also charged $191,000 a year for laundry services.

The dirty kitchens story is just one of dozens that show Haliburton and it's subsidiaries did substandard work at the expense of our soldiers.
Haliburton also lost, wasted or skimmed a whopping 43% of the money it billed the government!
And the Republicans have protected the company from regulation and policing.

On another note, the administration and it's puppets (like FOX News) like to rattle on about how Cheney no longer works for Halliburton and has no more connection or stocks in the company.
While technically true, this is not the whole story. Cheney holds 433,333 Halliburton stock options. Those stock options have gained in value, earning Cheney around $7.5 million! As well, he continues to earn a deferred salary from the company.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

*Now, in case you didn't catch it, I'll explain the reason I posted earlier about the Bush family's collaboration with the Nazi's. Here's a quote from the article linked in that post.

"Bush's partners in the secret web of Thyssen-controlled ventures included former New York Governor W. Averell Harriman and his younger brother, E. Roland Harriman. Their quarter-century of Nazi financial transactions, from 1924-1951, were conducted by the New York private banking firm, Brown Brothers Harriman."

These are the same firms, though the partners Kellog and Root have been added and aquired by Haliburton.
Interesting connection don't you think?
The Bush family's partners in war profiteering and Nazi collaboration are the same company formerly headed by VP Cheney, and now war profiteering in the middle east and worldwide.

Prescott Bush, W's grandfather, collaborated with the Nazi's and profiteered from the war (hmmm that sounds familiar). Guess this puts him in good company like Henry Ford. Not to mention Prescott was one of the founders of the US branch of the Skull & Bones cult.
And his father collaborates with the current enemy through conduits like the Carlyle group and the Bin Laden family.

What a great, proud family history.

Bush the Fratboy sex offender?

I wonder how many people across the country have been fired from their jobs or even sued or charged with a crime for doing exactly what the Fratboy-in-chief did to the German Chancellor the other day. This is worse than when he posed with the Japanese Prime Minister with his fly open.

Judge refuses to dismiss NSA lawsuit

Thank God someone is standing up to this administration and it's ongoing attack on the Constitution.
As much as I may disagree with them, the ACLU is an important counterbalance to administration abuses. Not to say the ACLU doesn't frequently have it's collective heads up it's left-wing butts. However, like mosquitoes, they serve their purpose in the 'circle of life'.
Enough of that analogy, the point is that in this case, the ACLU is right. So is the EFF, but unlike the ACLU, the EFF is right most of the time anyway.

This administration has proceeded with the most voracious attack on the Constitution that the country has ever seen. It's push toward removing the Constitutionally designed balance of the three branches of government in it's favor has been ongoing since the day they used the Supreme Court to steal the election.

I think the reason that they have launched such a blatant, and unashamed grab for fascist power is that the ignorant sheep of a public have let them. People have bought into the specious argument of security over liberty. The founding fathers knew this attack would be used against the citizens and the Constitution and tried to design the Constitution to prevent it. However, "We the people" have stupidly allowed these protections to be carved from that sacred document.

Hopefully these lawsuits and the judges in charge will save the few protections left.

The people need to get off their complacent butts and demand the overturning and removal of all un-Constitutional legislation that has been passed during this administration, beginning with the majority of the PATRIOT Act.

Bush Unplugged at the G8 over Middle East Conflict

So does Bush make a point of saying something stupid on camera every time he goes to a G8 summit?
I suppose no one remembers back when it was the G7 and Bush got caught 'secretly' saying that Israel needed to be forced to suck it up and get out of Gaza.
If you are paying attention, this was the seed for the current situation in Israel/Lebanon which may lead us into WW-III.
Thanks Mr. Bush.

Alternative fuel studies.

Interesting article about the value of both ethanol and biodiesel. It's hard on both, but still shows more of the advantages of biodiesel.

Excerpt from the article:
"The study, done by researchers at the University of Minnesota and at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., points to the environmental benefits of the biodiesel over ethanol made from corn, stating that ethanol provides 25 percent more energy a gallon than is required for its production, while soybean biodiesel generates 93 percent more energy.
The study's authors also found that ethanol, in its production and consumption, reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 12 percent, compared with fossil fuels. Biodiesel, they said, reduces such emissions 41 percent, compared with fossil fuels.
"

What these studies fail to consider are other biodiesel sources. There are other crops that give better, cheaper yields per acre. Also it totally overlooks waste vegetable oil (WVO) which is presently a waste material, but a great biodiesel source.

Symbols of the new GOP

So the other day I was watching some news report that I forget, however, I did notice something that left me stunned. In the background of the story was the Republican party's logo. I noticed it had been changed. The change was scary.

Before I get into that, let me give a little background. These days most people are pretty haphazard and careless about how they do things. However there are many groups and people that are very particular how they do, say, write, and place things. Any Catholics out there know the importance of ritual and symbolism. Certain symbols and rituals have meaning. Heraldry is another thing where symbols and placement are important and change meaning.

Now, we all know what the flag of the United States of America looks like (or at least we think we do, but that's another post). Each symbol, color and placement has meaning. If you look at US symbols the stars have a particular form and orientation.

Finally, another group that places great importance on symbols and numbers and orientation is the occult. EVERY Occult symbol and placement has meaning. What makes a pentagram a pentagram and not a 5 pointed star? Easy, the orientation. By placing two of the symbol's points upward, the symbol appears to have horns. A powerful occult symbol.
Note the devil horns hand signal that so many ignorant fans give at certain concerts.

So here's the deal. The republican logo has been changed. It's patriotic stars have been rotated to point 'horns up' and are now pentagrams.
"Conspiracy nonsense!" you yell
OK, if it's a coincidence, then tell me what possible reason there was to change it?
US symbols have upright stars, not pentagrams. There's no precedent for this orientation.
Also look at the timing. The symbol changed right at the same time as Bush took office, and before two confessed, practicing cult members (Skull & Bones, Bohemian Grove) ran for office (Bush & Kerry).

Here's a graphic for you to compare, Note the stars on the flag for reference:

Well well, Imagine that, a disappearing Enron witness.
No doubt one that could prove the link of the money laundering into the Bush campaign.
I'm surprised Abramoff is still alive.

Rosa Brooks: Did Bush commit war crimes?

The logic of this is pretty simple and well explained in this article.
Essentially with the courts taking apart the circular argument it was using to protect it's activities in the "war on terror", the administration is open to charges of war crimes.
It's certainly likely that based on the Hamdan decision, that the administration has committed war crimes. Not that they'll ever face any charges.
It amazes me that they tried to impeach Clinton and yet W. is still in office. Not that I like Clinton, but if he's the standard for impeachment, W is way past the impeachment point.

Big Brother is moving in online.

OK, so the State Department is reporting increased attacks and possible loss of sensitive data.
First off, that's what you get for connecting a Windows box to a network.
However, I'm sure that this will be spun into a "Clear and Present Danger" to US Homeland security.
This will in turn cause the sheep to bleat for laws to protect us. After all, the Constitution is just a "G*d D@mned piece of paper" according to the President anyway(*).
A lot of bad things happen every day, and have since well before 9-11. It's just that we now have them brought to our attention whenever the administration needs to put a little fear into us so that they can do what they want.

Watch yourself.

Interesting idea. Dunno if it's worthwhile, but something has to be done about DRM and 'Trusted' [cough] Computing.

Fake TV News: Widespread and Undisclosed - Center for Media and Democracy

The media isn't just biased, it's bought.
Major media outlets in every region are airing these paid, PR firm written and produced 'news' stories without disclosure. In fact the Bush administration has been under fire for doing this as well.

One of the first steps* of a forming facist government is to gain control of the media. Here in the 'Land of the Free' this step has long been thoroughly accomplished.

Come on America, do not go gently into this bad night, but rage, rage against the dying of your rights.

Limbaugh Detained At Airport

Another great example of the "do as we say, not as we do" attitude of the phoney pretenders that have taken over the right. Though in the case of Limbaugh, I think he really was legit, way back when, and got sucked in to the culture of corruption and lies that he had unknowingly defended so long.

And on a side note, what was all the Viagra for?

Ford ramping up it's support of gay lifestyles.

First they helped and supported the Nazi's in WW-II, and now they are actively promoting and donating huge sums of money to pro homosexuality groups.
Ford's support became so vocal and offensive that nearly 50 organizations are calling for a boycott of Ford products, led by the American Family Association.

Vote for Bush or Die

Here's a good blog post on the politics of paranoia I mentioned in my last post. These people will do absolutely anything to get what they want. They have no morals of any kind.

Vote for Bush or Die

|

Warning!

You're going to see more of this stuff for two reasons.

I. Elections are coming and the Republicans have nothing going for them, nothing making them worth voting for except for the fact that they know that the voting public think that only the Republicans can save them from "terror". So they usually dredge some up.

II. They want domestic terror threats. They need them to convince us all to give up our rights and freedoms.
They our fear to cloud our minds so they can shackle us while they cut up the Constitution.

Mark my words. You will see more stories like this, and you will see new laws and policies that take away rights that are unalienable.

What you've been told about cars is wrong...

This is yet more evidence that Hybrids, as the technology stands today, are a waste of money. They are overly complicated, failure prone, even dangerous, and don't live up to their fuel economy claims.
The AutoWeek reviewers basically rate the diesel Jetta tops in every way.
Notice their ravings on the Corvette too. Performance and economy aren't exclusive. Imagine if the Corvette had displacement on demand like the new Tahoe (which has nearly the same aerodynamic coefficient as the Vette). I bet the Vette could beat 35 MPG.

Now go read this article by Gale Banks, one of the most respected and knowledgeable men in the automotive industry.
Go on, read the article, I'll wait......

Ok, now, expand your closed, automotive industry marketing brainwashed, little mind and imagine a twin turbo diesel powered Corvette. 500+ horsepower, 50+ MPG
and cleaner emissions than a gasoline powered model. Throw in BioDiesel and now you can kick tail-dragger butt while patrioticly reducing our foreign oil dependence and increasing fuel economy.

[sidebar: Buzz Bradley in British Columbia, Canada couldn't wait, he built a very low tech, non-turbo, mechanical injection diesel Corvette that is still fun to drive, and get's 50+ MPG, there's no reason GM can't make a high-tech version that has more power (think Banks power) and better mileage]

Start demanding that your government representatives promote, and fund diesel engine and BioDiesel fuel research and production. Start asking your car dealers for diesel vehicles.

Come on people, fight the war on OPEC. Go diesel, and drag the government and the car companies kicking and screaming with you.

Is there Constitutional basis for our two-party system?

I've never liked the so called "two party system". It's nothing more than an unconstitutional way to abuse the already ill-advised electoral college in order to keep control of the office of President and bend the Congress.

The real reason?

Given that the current administration is completely and utterly under the thumb of big business, and in particular the oil industry, I have no doubt that pressure was put on to shut down the progress, use and sale of systems like the one United Nuclear is working on. Imagine after all if half the country converted their vehicles to run on clean, nearly free hydrogen power, and worse, if they did it themselves, using solar and wind power to generate the hydrogen. That cuts out the oil industry, big business, and the coal/electrical industry. Can't have that.

In case you still believe the media isn't biased.

It appears Bush and his corporate masters have been caught directly controlling the media. It's one thing to influence the news in your direction like they do with FOX News, but now they are even making the news stories themselves and sending them to the networks!

And you thought only the Communist countries did this.

So while the Whitehouse puts on the impression that they are cleaning house. They are really digging in.
While they got rid of the barking terrier Scott McLellan, they have replaced him with the BS spreading pitbull Tony Snow. It's no real surprise either, since Snow is a Republican mouthpiece on the lie peddling FOX News network.
If anyone doubted the FOX <-> Republican connection before, they can't deny it now.

Michelle Malkin: CARTOON CONTROVERSY AT MSU

Well, I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I actually found something on that republican mouthpiece puppet Malkin's site I agree with.

These dirty Moslem savages brutalize each other, their own women and children, and anyone who isn't Moslem, but if anyone dares to say one word about them they lose their mind screaming about persecution. Screw em. They can just damn well suck it up and live with it. When you behave like animals, you can't cry about it when you get treated like one.

I love the picture of the poor persecuted savage holding the "BEHEAD Those who insult islam" sign.

Scumbag.

Wired News: Green Berets Prefer Biodiesel

As I said before, diesel, not pipe dream nonsense like Hybrids and hydrogen vehicles are the short term answer to reducing non-renewable petroleum dependence. This is especially important given most of this petroleum comes from unstable countries full of maniacal zealots who hate us.

Check out this article and you can see the great success that the Military and other government agencies have had with biodiesel.

Tell your government representatives to stop wasting your tax dollars subsidizing E85 and start spending it on biodiesel programs and incentives to auto manufacturers to make more high performance, clean burning diesel vehicles.

Meanwhile, instead of waiting for the government to get off it's butt, you can do your part.
Buy a diesel vehicle. Right there you will get better fuel economy and be doing your part for the environment and reducing foreign oil dependence.
Next you can find a local station that sells biodiesel or biodiesel blended fuels. You can tell biodiesel blends because they are labeled Bnn. For example B20 means that the diesel is 20% biodiesel and 80% petrodiesel. Right there you have reduced your foreign oil use by 20%. Plus biodiesel is cleaner, and renewable so you are helping the environment too. Wont you feel good.
The final step is to make your own biodiesel and run 100% biodiesel. This is a bit of work, but considering you can make your own for less than 45 cents a gallon, it's well worth it!
Check out sites like the Collaborative Biodiesel Tutorial to learn about making your own biodiesel.

NPR : The Video Surveillance Debate

In yet another Orwellian move towards an all-seeing Big Brother, the NYPD and the city of New York are installing 500 surveillance cameras around New York in a pilot project they hope will lead to hundreds more.

This is a perfect, real-world example of the current trend towards a communist/fascist type government that sees and controls all it's citizens do.

I keep hearing people say some truly outrageous things in regards to these developments.

The two I hear the most are:

"I don't care, I've got nothing to hide"
"As long as we catch the bad guys, I don't care"

These statements show a high degree of ignorance. Ignorance of America's history and founding principles. Ignorance of real American ideals of freedom and law. Ignorance of world history.

Let me speak to the two above mentioned confessions of ignorance as they relate to the NY spy cameras.

- "I don't care, I've got nothing to hide"
Well, my first response to this is, so what? Just because you aren't hiding anything, or don't think you are doing anything wrong, this is still America. The idea that the government can search you, and spy on you etc. anytime it wants is communist thinking, fascist thinking. Real patriotic American thinking is that the Government answers to the people, and is Constitutionally required to protect your rights.

Let me quote you the 4th amendment of the Constitution from the "Bill of Rights":
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This amendment (and others) is already being trashed by the unPATRIOTic ACT and other unconstitutional laws, executive orders, and illegal actions. It's bad enough that people are being seized, jailed, held without charge for months, without lawyers, without outside contact etc., but for the rest of us to lie down and say "sure, go ahead" is treasonous, despicable, cowardly, and un-American. REAL Americans fight for their freedoms and rights.

- "As long as we catch the bad guys, I don't care"

Well, as mentioned, not caring alone is treasonous, un-American behavior.
As for catching bad guys, not a single person has been convicted in connection with the Sept. 11th attacks due to any provisions of the PATRIOT ACT.
In regards to the NY surveillance situation, London has had hundreds of big brother cameras installed for some years now. Despite the London cameras, there was no reduction in crime in London, and if you'll all recall, not only didn't the cameras prevent the recent London subway bombings, but they did in fact record the perpetrators. They were of no use in identifying them as bombers, or even as suspicious. They had no value as a deterrent, or as a preventive measure.

The other thing I want to continue to drive home with people is that it's never, ever right, smart, or patriotic to give up your unalienable rights.

To the hardline Christian Right that elected this president, I say think about this. Even if GWB was the second coming, and he was right, fair and just in everything he does, it doesn't mean you should give up your rights. Why? Because he won't be president forever, and every power you give this administration, and every right you give up to them, you also give to EVERY administration that follows them. And it only takes one evil or even misguided person to take away freedom from you.

Think about this. Suppose that in the future a very anti "Christian Right" president is elected. During that President's term, some moron bombs an abortion clinic in the name of Christianity. Maybe they attend a mainstream denomination like the Baptist, Catholic, or AoG. What stops that Administration from using the powers given to this Administration to persecute Christians? To treat them like radical Islamic extremists are treated now, declaring a war on terror against them?

If you are ever not sure about something a politician wants to do, remember this. The founding fathers were smarter, wiser, and more patriotic than you are. And the Constitution was setup to protect us even from ourselves, our ignorance, and our government.
